A Mighty Long Way ... Week of March 31, 2019

Psalm 71:5-6   New International Version (NIV) 5  For you have been my hope,  Sovereign  Lord ,      my confidence  since my youth. 6  From birth  I have relied on you;      you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.      I will ever praise  you. Dear Friends, The Lord God has brought me from a mighty long way.  My "mighty long way" does not look exactly like yours.  Different families, different backgrounds.  We come from diverse communities. We belong to different churches.  Yet, our faith in God, our acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior unites us. The Lord has brought us to this moment in time. From birth, from our mother's womb, God the Father has bring leading and bringing us along. One songwriter penned: "some through the water, some through the flood, some through the fire, but all through the blood."  God leads His dear children along. I would venture to say that the way has been mighty, mighty long for most.  The valleys have

Keep Stepping... Week of March 24, 2019

1 Samuel 20:2-4   King James Version (KJV) 2  And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so. 3  And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the  Lord  liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death. 4  Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee. Dear Friends, David was running for His life.  At every turn Saul was pursuing him.  King Saul sought to take David's life.  By the grace of God, there was always an escape plan for David to avoid the snares of Saul.  Sometimes, the escape was "a matter of steps."  David kept moving.   Each of us by the hands of the same Gracious God are here to enjoy life for a

Manifold Blessings... Week of March 17, 2019

Psalm 116:12-13   King James Version (KJV) 12  What shall I render unto the  Lord  for all his benefits toward me? 13  I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the  Lord . Dear Friends, The Lord is good and His mercy is everlasting.  There are no adequate words to express the thanksgiving that fills my heart when I think about His manifold blessings.  The abundant benefits of God are too numerous to mention.  Yet among them we see grace, mercy, patience and long suffering.  Our Benefactor bestows on us so many miracles.  The Lord leads us around danger.  He comforts us in tribulation.  He hears each cry.  Father God regards each tear. Bless the Lord!  All that is within me, bless His Holy Name. What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits towards me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. God bless you. In Christ, Sis. Stephanie

In My Heart ... - Week of March 3, 2019

Psalm 27:8   King James Version (KJV) 8  When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face,  Lord , will I seek. Dear Friends, "Lord I want to be a Christian in my heart.  Lord I want to be a Christian in my heart. Lord I want to be a Christian in my heart. In my heart.  In my heart. Lord I want to be a Christian in my heart." It is in my heart, the desire to be Christ like. Jesus Christ in my heart.  Personal. It has to be personal.  The desire to have a heart for the things of God is a choice.  The Psalmist records that the Lord told him to seek His face.  His heart replied, Thy face will I seek.  Seeking the Lord with the heart requires discipline and diligence.  It is understanding that we don't arrive at a place in life, in the Christian journey where it is acceptable to become complacent.   In my heart I desire to do what is right.  In my heart I desire to grow stronger in faith each day.  In my heart I have the desire to love my
