The Father Knows Best

"Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls."    - Jeremiah 6:16 cf Dear Friends, The Father knows best.  In the scripture text from Jeremiah it is the Lord who instructs: Stand in the ways, and see.  Stand in the ways.  The path that God has set out is a clear path.  Of course, bramble bushes and thorn and over grown grass and weeds may at times block the way. Yet, the path is clear. Trust Me.  Follow Me. Believe Me.  Stand in Me.  The Father knows best. Standing in the Lord provides clear vision.  This standing requires studying the Word of God.  The Word of God is a clear path.  Standing in the Word, being rooted and grounded in the Word allows us to "see."  Not traveling blindly through. We are following directions issues by God. The Father knows best. Ask for the old paths. Psalms, hymns spirit...

The Lord God Brought Us From a Mighty Long Way

"I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; any shall see it and fear, and trust in the Lord." - Psalms 49: 1-3 Dear Friends, I love to wash clothes.  So, I wash at least five out of seven days a week.  I remember as a little girl we had an old washer and the clothes had to be pulled through a ringer.  My mother made it look simple but I knew it wasn't.   My grandmother and aunt went to the laundromat.  Going with them was like a field trip for me.  All of the big washing machines.  Clothes could be washed and dried in the machines.  I was often allowed to put in the soap powder and I could help fold the clothes.  Joy!  I remember when my Father bought my mother an apartment sized washer and dryer.  ...

We Can Be Still and Know

Psalm 46 King James Version (KJV) 46  God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2  Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3  Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. 4  There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. 5  God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. 6  The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. 7  The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. 8  Come, behold the works of the Lord , what desolations he hath made in the earth. 9  He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he bu...

I Remember

"When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.  Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings I will rejoice." - Psalms 63:6-7 Dear Friends, "My sister and me used to have bunk beds.  This reminds of me of that. Do you remember Stephanie? It's like we are having a pajama party." I remember. I sat with my sister in her Hospice room and I remembered.  Bunk beds that we sometimes had stacked and at other times they were laid side by side, like twin beds.  I remember that we are not in our room of long ago. Unless the Lord says otherwise when this "party" is over my sister will be with the Lord and I will return to my earthly home.  I remember. God was a Mighty Fortress during those days.  In a place where people go to comfortably die, the Lord was teaching a lesson on how to live.  Praise and worship was the norm.  My sister the angelic soprano sang.  Family came in the room and for...

Let My Spirit be Clutter Free

"Let all bitterness and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."              - Ephesians 4:31-32 Let my spirit be clutter free.  Some things have got to go.  I find it therapeutic to claim spiritual victory while performing household or daily tasks.  Laying aside bitterness and wrath while washing the dishes.  Throwing anger and clamour which is loud noise and disturbance out with the trash.  Asking God to help me to be "swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath" (James 1:19) while putting in a load of laundry.  Lord let my spirit be clutter free. Let my words heal and not hurt.  Lord protect me from speaking or listening to gossip is my prayer as I wash my face. Lord let my spirit be clutter free. "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and r...

It Is Time to Rise and Shine!

And that, knowing  the   time , that  now  it  is  high  time  to awake out of sleep: for  now   is  our salvation nearer than when we believed. - Romans 13:11 Dear Friends, 'The Lord is blessing me right now. Lord right now. He woke me up this morning and started me on my way. The Lord is blessing me right now. Lord right now."  The Holy Spirit is my alarm clock.  By God's grace he wakes me up each morning letting me know it is time to rise and shine. "Arise, shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." Isaiah 60:1 KJV It is time to rise and shine for the Lord is Faithful.  Each new day is a new beginning.  It is time to get up and get busy.  In our homes, our communities, our schools and churches we have the glory of the Lord empowering us to rise and shine. Do not hesitate in doing good and letting your light shine for the Lord. It is time to rise and shine for th...

Miracles! Keep Looking

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."        - Hebrews 12:2 Dear Friends, Looking for a miracle? Keep looking.  Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith is still performing miracles.  Miracles! All around us they exist.  The rising and setting of the sun everyday.  Miracles! Stars shining in the sky, twinkling.  "He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names." - Psalms 147:4 Looking for a miracle? Keep looking. "Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." Miracles! Keep looking. Jesus. The One who fed the multitudes with two fish and five loaves of bread is still turning little into plenty. Jesus. The One who turned water into wine is still t...
