Ephesians 5:19-20 King James Version (KJV)
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Dear Friends,
God's Word is all powerful. Ephesians 5:19-20 is one of my favorite verses.
Speak!
To yourselves
Say what?
Speak!
In Psalms
- "The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear. The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid..."
In Hymns
- "I know I am a child of God although I move so slow. I'll wait until the Spirit comes and move as God commands."
In Spiritual Songs:
- "I love you. I love you. I love you Lord today. Because you care for me in such a special way. That's why I praise you. I lift you up. I magnify your name. That's why my heart is filled with praise."
Holy conversations. Talk to yourself. Let the Holy Spirit guide the conversation. Speak life. Speak encouragement. Encourage yourself and others. A verse from the Psalms, a line from a hymn, a phrase from a spiritual song.
"Someone asked the question why do we sing, when we lift our hands to Jesus, what do we really mean?"
- Kirk Franklin
Frankly speaking, I believe God. His instructions are clear. His path is righteousness. His way is Holy.

Singing psalms unto God feels like you're creating a wall of protection between you and the evils in this world. It keeps God for most in my heart and mind. My spirit rejoices.
