God Rides on Every Storm

Psalm 30:4-5 King James Version (KJV) 4  Sing unto the  Lord , O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. 5  For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Dear Friends, Over the years I have often heard the saying "God works in mysterious ways."  For years I thought the words originated in a song. However, the words were written in the poem Light Shining Out of Darkness by William Cowper. It is powerful and the picture he paints for us of God the Master of the Sea is magnificent. For Every storm, every battle, every test there is the certainty that light shines out of darkness. Light Shining Out of Darkness - William Cowper (public domain) God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform, He plants his footsteps in the Sea, And rides upon the Storm. Deep in unfathomable Mines, Of never failing Skill, He treasures up his bright designs, An...

When You Can't See Your Way

Psalm 25:1-6 King James Version (KJV) 25  Unto thee, O  Lord , do I lift up my soul. 2  O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. 3  Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. 4  Shew me thy ways, O  Lord ; teach me thy paths. 5  Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. 6  Remember, O  Lord , thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Dear Friends, The Hymn writer penned:  "I'm waitin' on Jesus, can't do nothin' till He comes. Oh, I'm waitin' on Jesus. Can't do nothin', till He comes." When you can't see your way and are uncertain as to what direction you should take, don't get in a hurry, exercise your faith and wait on God. When you can't see your way, remember this: Wait   on   the   Lord...

In My Prayer Room

Matthew 6:1-6 King James Version (KJV) 6  Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2  Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3  But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4  That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. 5  And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6  But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which...

Moving Right Along

Acts 17:24-28 King James Version (KJV) 24  God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25  Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26  And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27  That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28  For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Dear Friends, We have to keep on moving in spite of the the opposition.  Keep telling people about salvation through Jesus Christ. Don't be reluctant to let your light shine. Don't forget that you are no...

In the Morning When I Rise, Give Me Jesus

John 4:9-15 King James Version (KJV) 9  Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10  Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11  The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? 12  Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13  Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. ...
