Psalm 30:4-5King James Version (KJV)
4 Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Dear Friends,
Over the years I have often heard the saying "God works in mysterious ways." For years I thought the words originated in a song. However, the words were written in the poem Light Shining Out of Darkness by William Cowper. It is powerful and the picture he paints for us of God the Master of the Sea is magnificent.
For Every storm, every battle, every test there is the certainty that light shines out of darkness.
Light Shining Out of Darkness - William Cowper (public domain)
God moves in a mysterious way,
His wonders to perform,
He plants his footsteps in the Sea,
And rides upon the Storm.
His wonders to perform,
He plants his footsteps in the Sea,
And rides upon the Storm.
Deep in unfathomable Mines,
Of never failing Skill,
He treasures up his bright designs,
And works his Sovereign Will.
Of never failing Skill,
He treasures up his bright designs,
And works his Sovereign Will.
Ye fearfull Saints fresh courage take,
The clouds ye so much dread,
Are big with Mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.
The clouds ye so much dread,
Are big with Mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust him for his Grace,
Behind a frowning Providence
He hides a Smiling face.
But trust him for his Grace,
Behind a frowning Providence
He hides a Smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour,
The Bud may have a bitter taste,
But wait, to Smell the flower.
Unfolding every hour,
The Bud may have a bitter taste,
But wait, to Smell the flower.
Blind unbelief is sure to err,
And scan his work in vain,
God is his own Interpreter,
And he will make it plain.
And scan his work in vain,
God is his own Interpreter,
And he will make it plain.
in Christ,
Sis. Stephanie
