Ephesians 5:18-20King James Version (KJV)
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Dear Friends,
Sometimes it is just good to talk to yourself, remind yourself of where the Lord has brought your from and how He brought you to this place. When I reflect back on my early years in the church I remember attending Sunday School, Missionary Society meetings and morning and evening services. I remember the Deacons singing hymns during devotion and I remember the processional of the choir.
Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs... I offer one today in hopes that the words will offer encouragement and reflection:
I Heard The Voice Of Jesus Say ...
By H. Bonar (1808-1889)
Meter: C.M.D.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down
Thy head upon My breast.
I came to Jesus as I was,
Weary, and worn, and sad;
I found in Him a resting-place,
And He has made me glad.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
Behold, I freely give
The living water—thirsty one,
Stoop down, and drink, and live.
I came to Jesus, and I drank
Of that life-giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
And now I live in Him.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
I am this dark world's Light;
Look unto Me: thy morn shall rise
And all thy day be bright.
I looked to Jesus, and I found
In Him my Star, my Sun;
And in that light of life I'll walk
Till travelling days are done.
God bless you!
in Christ,
Sis. Stephanie
