"And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lordwas not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lordwas not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice."

Dear Friends,
Sometimes the Lord sends mighty winds, fierce storms. Storms can be so intense and rains pour down in torrents that seems to shake the very foundations of the earth. The roar of the thunder, the piercing lightening brings trees out of the ground by their roots. God sends forth His voice to command nature and nature obeys. The winds and waves, trees and hills yield to the power of God.
We see the movement of God in the face of the storm. We are often stopped in our tracks because we cannot stand in the face of the might of the strong wind. We seek shelter and wait on the storm to pass. Storms do pass. In the quiet that follows the storms, storms of nature and spirit -- Hear God whisper I am hear. I am still hear.
God rides on ever storm a songwriter of long ago penned. He also chases storm away. When it is enough, when the mission has been accomplished God restores calm. Every storm has a purpose.
And likewise the stillness has a purpose to serve.
The Psalmist states it this way:
"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be
exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." - Psalm 46:10
Listen still for the small voice!
in Christ,
Sis. Stephanie
