Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
- Proverbs 18:21
Our words are powerful. They can encourage, inspire, and inform. Our words misplaced can divide, destroy and devour. Wisdom expounds, “choose your words carefully.”
I have learned that when I listen more and speak less the words that are expressed tend to be more thoughtful. Words that are more considerate of others rather than centered on me.
It is also true that the more seasoned our speech is based on the foundation of the scripture, the more long lasting the impact. When we wound with words it is not always on purpose. Yet, if we have as our purpose to speak life, our efforts to do so must be intentional, deliberate and graced by God.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. - Psalm 19:14
God bless!
