Colossians 3:16
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
Let the Word of God
abide,
dwell,
take root
in our spirit.
The richness of this indwelling is accomplished through consistent reading, study, and application.
While books, programs, or blogs have a place in encouraging spiritual growth, there is no substitute for reading the actual Word of God.
Two tools have helped me tremendously over the years.
The first is writing out scripture.
I used notecards when I first started.
I now use a journal.
There are scripture writing plans that are topical and some take you through the Bible book by book.
Most recently I wrote out the book of Esther. Three or four verses a day.
I feel as though I completed a Bible study.
Beginning today, I will start writing out
the book of Romans.
Another tool, directly related to today’s verse, is “praying a song.”
Select a favorite hymn, gospel,or contemporary worship song.
Look up the words and read through them as a prayer.
Write out the verse that really speaks to your heart.
Sing along to the song.
Pay particular attention to the words.
Sing the words as a prayer to God.
One of my favorite song’s to pray is:
Shine on me.
Shine on me.
I wonder if the Lighthouse will shine on me.
Shine on me.
Shine on me.
Lord, I wonder if the Lighthouse will shine on me.
Sing your song.🎶
Pray your song.🎶
Share your song.🎶
God bless.
In Christ,
Sis. Stephanie
