Psalms 91:4
“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”
Two blankets, a clothesline, and clothespins, were all we needed to make our tent. And so we did on many summer days during my childhood.
One day my father came home with a big box.
In the box was a duffle bag which held an emerald green tent, silver poles and stakes.
I think the tent was purchased for my brothers. But my sister and I claimed it too.
We were the only kids
in our “row of projects,” with a real tent.
I spent time reading,
sharing secrets,
and imagining there.
It was a safe haven.
It was a place away from the world as usual.
The tent was waterproof.
It blocked out the hot sun.
The emerald green tent was a shelter.
Today I am thankful to dwell in the tent of the Most High God.
I imagine this dwelling to be red, representing the shed blood of Christ.
Under the cover of the Lord,
I am saved.
I am safe.
I am secure.
Shielded by the feathers of God.
Angels of the Lord encamp all around.
Under the cover of His truth,
I am strengthened in my soul.
I thank God for being “under” cover.
God bless.
In Christ,
Sis. Stephanie
