John 1:2-4King James Version (KJV)
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Dear Friends,
In the world right now there seems to be a lot of "I think I am better than you" attitudes prevailing. It is so hard to understand this kind of the thinking when scripture is clear that all things were made by God. All people, all life is sustained by God. Keeping this in mind may cause us to pause and be a little kinder to our neighbor. Perhaps, we will think twice and choose not to respond to every action or word we consider to be a slight. Maybe we would pray more.
The songwriter penned: "Without God, I could do nothing. Without Him I know I would fail. Without God, my life would be drifting, like a ship without a sail."

Prayer is the Soul's Sincere Desire
Prayer is the soul's sincere desire,
unuttered or expressed,
the motion of a hidden fire
that trembles in the breast.
unuttered or expressed,
the motion of a hidden fire
that trembles in the breast.
Prayer is the burden of a sigh,
the falling of a tear,
the upward glancing of an eye,
when none but God is near.
the falling of a tear,
the upward glancing of an eye,
when none but God is near.
Prayer is the simplest form of speech
that infant lips can try;
prayer the sublimest strains that reach
the Majesty on high.
that infant lips can try;
prayer the sublimest strains that reach
the Majesty on high.
Prayer is the contrite sinners' voice,
returning from their way,
while angels in their songs rejoice
and cry, "Behold, they pray!"
returning from their way,
while angels in their songs rejoice
and cry, "Behold, they pray!"
Prayer is the Christians' vital breath,
the Christians' native air;
their watchword at the gates of death;
they enter heaven with prayer.
the Christians' native air;
their watchword at the gates of death;
they enter heaven with prayer.
O Thou, by whom we come to God,
the Life, the Truth, the Way:
the path of prayer thyself hast trod;
Lord, teach us how to pray!
the Life, the Truth, the Way:
the path of prayer thyself hast trod;
Lord, teach us how to pray!
