We Are God's People. This We Know for Sure!

Deuteronomy 26:6-9 King James Version (KJV) 6  And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage: 7  And when we cried unto the  Lord  God of our fathers, the  Lord  heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression: 8  And the  Lord  brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders: 9  And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey. Dear Friends, The year 2016 is drawing to a close.  As with years past 2016 brought its share of joy and sorrow.   There was evil that entreated us, afflicted us and sometimes we were bound by trouble. Still we have the blessed assurance that when we cry out in earnest to God, He will deliver.  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) His mighty hand, His outstretched arm is with u

Show Mercy and Compassion

Zechariah 7:8-9 King James Version (KJV) 8  And the word of the  Lord  came unto Zechariah, saying, 9  Thus speaketh the  Lord  of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: Dear Friends, "It's not nice to act like that."  "Don't say mean things about other people."  "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." When people speak out against wrong or offer constant reminders of how the Lord would have us to treat one another they are often shunned or ignored.  It is dangerous to ignore the truth at any time. However, when truth is being delivered by God's appointed messengers and ignored by the intended recipients it can quite costly. Zechariah received visions from the Lord. God spoke to him to deliver a particular message that we find recorded in chapter 8.  The people were to execute righteous judgment, they were not to oppress the poor, widows or orphans.   Th

Move in God's Strength to Accomplish God's Will

2 Chronicles 14:11-15 King James Version (KJV) 11  And Asa cried unto the  Lord  his God, and said,  Lord , it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O  Lord  our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O  Lord , thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee. 12  So the  Lord  smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. Dear Friends, In II Chronicles chapter 14 we meet King Asa a righteous ruler.  When he came into authority he set out to get rid of the pagan gods and turn the hearts of the people back to the One True God.  He was proactive in establishing an army during a ten year period of peace.  During this time of peace he acknowledged and worshiped the Lord.  In verse eleven trouble comes and an army of 1,000,000 comes against the kingdom of Israel under Asa's leadership.  Asa had not waited until trouble appeared to call on God.  He pr

Gracious Benefits Towards Us

Psalm 103:1-2 King James Version (KJV) 103  Bless the  Lord , O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2  Bless the  Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits Dear Friends, Forget not all His benefits: Loving kindness Tender mercy Great grace Long suffering Compassion Comfort Guidance Unfailing love The Lord's benefits towards us are more than can be numbered. Psalm 103 King James Version (KJV) 103  Bless the  Lord , O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2  Bless the  Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4  Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5  Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. 6  The  Lord  executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. 7  He made known his ways u

How Can I Help You?

Mark 10:46-52 King James Version (KJV) 46  And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. 47  And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 48  And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. 49  And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. 50  And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. 51  And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52  And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

May the Christmas Star Shine in Your Heart Today and Everyday

2  Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2  Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.    - St. Matthew 2:1-2 Dear Friends, May God bless you and yours this Christmas. in Christ, Sis. Talking About Jesus

18  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19  Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. 20  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the  Lord  appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name  Jesus : for he shall save his people from their sins. 22  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24  Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lor

Good Tidings of Great Joy!

Luke 2:8-11 King James Version (KJV) 8  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Dear Friends, The angel that appeared to the shepherds on that first Christmas morn brought good news to them.  I imagine the shepherds as described in second chapter of St. Luke.  They were working the late shift.  We are told that they were keeping watch at night.   It was at night when this group of workers received the announcement.  On many jobs there is a smaller crew at night. The night workers are getting work done in preparation for the morning shift.  It was to this crew th

The Shepherd Knows

Psalm 23 King James Version (KJV) 23  The  Lord  is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the  Lord  for ever. Dear Friends, Because we have Jesus as our Leader we have no need to fear.  He will supply our every need. The 23rd Psalm is a favorite of many who have committed it to memory.  Yet, it is good to stop and slowly recite line by line, verse by verse this power Psalm and bask in the power that dwells therein. Lord Please Teach Us to Number Our Days

2 Peter 3:8-9 King James Version (KJV) 8  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Dear Friends, One of my favorite games as a child was "What Time Is It My Clock?"  If it was your turn to be the time keeper, "Mr. Clock" the other children children posed the the question: What time is it? If your answer was for example, 3:00 the participants tried to make it close to you before you turned around.  The first one to reach you after the succession of time questions then, became the time keeper. In this life we know the ultimate Time Keeper is Father God.  He controls time past, time present and time future.   I am focused on time today as I write the 365th blog entry.  A yea
