Luke 9:23-24King James Version (KJV)
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
Dear Friends,
Following Christ..I think about this every day. How can I be a better follower... How to be a better servant... How can I really make a difference?
The reality is the difference has already been made.
It is Christ who makes the difference.
Those who seek to follow Christ need daily to be reminded that he left us with clear instructions as recorded in Luke chapter nine.
Jesus also instructs us in Matthew 5:16:
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Sometimes the dilemma comes in wanting to let our personal light shine. This is to put our agenda in front of the Lord's plan/purpose for us. This is not denying self.
Self-denial if viewed through the natural eye may appear as though God is asking too much of us. We may wonder: "Why do I have to make such tremendous sacrifices. I want to pursue my dreams." etc. etc.
As one of my daughters often says: "Really? Seriously?"
The ultimate sacrifice has already been made.
The greatest gift has already been given. The prime example of sacrificial love -- self-denial was demonstrated in the Person of Jesus Christ. He died, was buried and rose again. He gave His life for us. He who had no sin.
It really is not about us. It is about Jesus Christ. "Jesus gave us a light and told us to let it shine."
Really? Seriously? Really! Seriously!
in Christ,
Sis. Stephanie
