Matthew 7:21-25King James Version (KJV)
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Dear Friends,
You remember the story of the three little pigs. Well, the short recap is they left home to start life on their own. Needing shelter, one pig built his house out of straw. One pig built his house out of sticks. The third pigs built his house out of bricks. For clarification sake the bricks represent rocks.
Well, this particular fairy tale mirrors life and spiritual truth can be gleaned from it as well.
We cannot just build our lives out of any old fabric, i.e., half-truth (there is no such thing). Lives built around deceit, hidden motives, malicious intent and lacking love are headed for collapse.
Only what we do for Christ will last. The enemy can devour houses built out of stick and straw. These are representative of those lacking foundation. Yet, with a certainty if we purpose to build our lives, steep our prayers, center our focus and cast our cares on Jesus Christ we have placed ourselves on the steady rock.
It is then that we can go forward in a mighty way for Him. Raging winds, howling seas, beating rains, frosty cold cannot destroy lives built on the truth of God's word.
Jesus said:
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Build your house on the Rock.
in Christ,
Sis. Stephanie
