Reconciling Love - Sunday School Lesson

Romans 5:6-11King James Version (KJV)

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Romans 8:31-39King James Version (KJV)

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Dear Friends,

Christian Education is a pivitol part of our growth in the body of Christ.  Personal Bible study, group bible study, home study all contribute to Christian Education.  Sunday School instruction has been one of the pillars of CE programs across denominations.
It is my goal to list the topic of the International Sunday School Lesson each week moving forward and highlight the aim/objective of the study.
Today I have also included brief background information on the ISSL (uniform lessons).

Reconciling Love. The featured scriptures today are the focus on the International Sunday School Lessons.

Lesson Text: Romans 5:6-11; 8:31-39
Background Scripture: Romans 5:6-11; 8:31-39
Devotional Reading: Romans 1:1-15

The aim today's lesson:
Learning Fact: To understand why God's love in Christ is invincible.
Biblical Perspective: To explore the connection between being justified and reconciled.
Daily Application: To make one's personal life change to better live out God's reconciling love.

Invincible
  • Nothing can separate us from the love of God
Justified
  • We are justified (made righteous) through the blood of Christ
Reconciled
  • It is because of the work of Christ, his shed blood that we have access to God the Father, reconciled put in a right relationship with God
It is my prayer that you will be blessed as you study the lesson.

God bless!

in Christ,

Sis. Stephanie

What are the "uniform" ISSL's?
The Uniform Series is a 6-year plan for reading and studying the Bible. By participating in the Uniform Series, a believer will be given help in knowing the content of the Bible, understanding its message, and responding to that message by living a life of faith and love. The Bible is, of course, central to this plan. An effort is made to take at least 1 lesson or daily Bible reading from each book of the Bible over a 6-year span. Naturally, some parts of the Bible are more “teachable” than others, and these sections get more of the attention in the series.
What is uniform about the series?
Uniform means “the same,” and there are 2 ways this series demonstrates “sameness.” First, the series is the result of the combined efforts of several denominations and publishing houses, and is thus shared by all of them. That means a class in the Christian church on the corner, another in the Methodist church down the street, and still another in the Presbyterian church across town might all be using the same text on any given Sunday. Each of these churches can buy curriculum or annual commentaries on the Uniform Series from their preferred publisher. In some of those churches you’ll see the second level of uniformity. In every class of every age student, the same text or theme will be addressed. Uniform Series lessons are available for every age level from some publishers. (Standard Publishing produces material on the Uniform Series only for adults.) This allows for family discussion of the day’s Sunday school lessons in those churches that use the Uniform lessons in that way.

THANKFULLY

Philippians 1:3   “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,” Wherever you are today, I thank God for you. Family, friends and all. I thank God. I praise God for allowing our lives to intersect in some way. May this day and every day be filled with gratitude. I pray that grace and peace abound.  Let mercy and grace be multiplied. Thankfully, the Lord God has brought us, from a mighty long way. God bless✨  In Christ, Sis. Stephanie

SHIFT KEY

1 Corinthians 13:12 “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”  It all depends on how you look at it. What’s your focus? Is the picture clear or blurry? Do you need to crop the photo for a better view? A little shift in focus can be key.  Shifting the way you look at things can make a big difference.  I am looking at the shift key on my keyboard. I have options. Lower case or uppercase. Numerical or special characters. Failure to shift correctly can cause denied access because my password is not recognized. Shift is key. Some things can be better understood if we take the time to change our focus.  Zoom in on what really matters.  Stop looking at things that appear  insurmountable. Instead shift your focus. Look at God. The view is breathtaking when I look up. I see Jesus. He sees me. I am shifting my focus. Eyes lifted up. I see where my help comes from. My help comes from the Lord. The Lord who

Through the Eyes of Faith ...By Grace

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of work, lest anyone should boast.   - Ephesians 2:8-9  “Amazing grace shall always be my song of praise for it was grace that bought my liberty. I don’t know why He chose to love me so. He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs.”  So much has happened since the last time I “saw” you. The changing circumstances of the journey have been stabilized by an Unchanging God.   Journey on my sisters and brothers. Bask in the knowledge that unfailing mercy and sufficient grace surround you.   Grace makes new beginnings possible. We can begin again. The time is now. The choice? It’s yours. Yours for the asking.  Through the eyes of faith…we see Jesus.  God bless! In Christ,  Sis. Stephanie
