No Fear

In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear..."    - Psalms  56:4cf Dear Friends, The Psalmist proclaims: The Lord IS my shepherd I shall not want - Psalms 23:1 No fear The Lord is my light and my salvation - Psalms 27:1 "For  in   the  time  of  trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in   the   secret   of   his   tabernacle  shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock." - Psalms 27:5 No fear The prophet declares: " Seek ye the  Lord  while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:   Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the  Lord , and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." - Isaiah 55:6-7 No fear The past week has been one of intense pressure.  There was a fleeting moment when the enemy tried to make me afraid.  Yet, the Holy Spirit gave me strength with these words: &quo

Remember

"After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.   For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come." - I Corinthian 11:25-26 "The   memory   of   the   just  is blessed..." - Proverbs 10:7 "But he was  wounded   for   our  transgressions, he was bruised  for   our  iniquities: the chastisement of  our  peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. - Isaiah 53:5 Dear Friends, Memorial Day is a day for remembering.  We remember our loved ones who have gone on.  We remember those who have given their lives in service to their country. Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. Our Savior spoke to us of remembering.  Holy Communion, when we pause to take the Lord's Supper with the bread a symbol of His broken body and the wine/juice a symbol of His shed blood is a ti

Give It To God!

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give your rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." - St. Matthew 11:28-29 Dear Friends, Give it to God.  Give Him the burdens that you carry;  the wounds; the fear; the anger; the rejection.Whatever may be weighing you down, give it to God. Give Him your dreams; your plans; your hopes; your ambition; surrender everything to God. He is waiting.  Give it to God.  He will take care of your family, your friends and your enemies. Give everything to God.  He doesn't mind. He is waiting.  He has outstretched arms. "Come." Jesus says  "Come unto me." Give it, give them, give all to God. in Christ, Sis. Intensive Care

" But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God." - Acts 20:24 Dear God, This week I wondered how my family would have the strength to keep going. I found myself without the strength to put one spiritual foot in front of the other. In my soul I just kept saying Lord if you will just help us  we can keep moving.   I looked around me and I praise you for all that you have already done Heavenly Father. There are so many friends and brothers and sisters in Christ who are facing challenges that weigh them down and I am praying Lord that you would have mercy and meet their needs. I have learned and continue to learn in whatever state I am to be content.  This week Lord I have learned the true meaning of that verse I am thankful just to be your child. I have witnessed once again the power of your mer

Carry On

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the  Lord , and their righteousness is of me, saith the  Lord."     - Isaiah 54:17 Dear Friends, Sometimes it seems as though the troubles come faster than we can adjust.  Troubles appear in the home, in our communities, on our jobs.  It is not easy to get our bearings or keep our footing.  We wonder how we are going to manage.   It is at times like this that the Holy Spirit reminds us that He is our Present Help.  We are not alone in the battle.  He is with us as He promised.  The Holy Spirit, Our Guide, Our Comforter is always near.   The storms will rage.  Sometimes the winds will blow so hard that it will seems as if we will be swept away.  Yet, Our Anchor Jesus Christ whispers, "Hold On."  "Peace Be Still." Jesus the Captain! It is Jesus, He is in control.  No weapon for

Not so Fast

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:"     - James 1:19 KJV   Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person  be quick to hear, slow to speak,  slow to anger;    - James 1:19 ESV "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry," - James 1:19 NIV Dear Friends, James 1:19 is one of my favorite Bible verses.  The reminders to be a good listener, think before you speak and do not be quick to become angry are priceless resources in building and maintaining healthy relationships. Listen more.  Speak less. Control your temper.  You will be glad that you did. Consider James 1:20:  " For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God." KJV " for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God." ESV "because human anger  does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

Ask the Savior to Help You!

"There hath no temptation taken you but  such   as   is  common  to man: but God  is  faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."  - I Corinthians 10:13 Dear Friends, There is no test, no temptation that you face that is beyond God's power to deliver and sustain.  May the truth of I Corinthians 10:13 strengthen you and the song below encourage you. Yield Not to Temptation (Public Domain)      - Horatio Palmer Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin; Each victory will help you some other to win; Fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue; Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through. Refrain: Ask the Savior to help you, Comfort, strengthen, and keep you; He is willing to aid you, He will carry you through. Shun evil companions, bad language disdain, God’s name hold in reverence, nor take it in vain; Be thoughtful and earnest, kindhear

Merciful God

"O praise the  Lord , all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.  For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the  Lord  endureth for ever. Praise ye the  Lord ."  - Psalms 117 Dear Friends, Lately when I listen to sermons and I hear something that strongly impacts my current situation I will utter aloud "Merciful God."  I don't remember the exact Sunday or sermon when the words starting passing my lips but the truth of the Word of God and recognition of  His power just gives rise to "Merciful God" over and over in my spirit.   He blesses us ... Merciful God He forgives us ... Merciful God He provides for us ... Merciful God He directs us ... Merciful God He sustains us ... Merciful God He instructs us ... Merciful God He is kind toward us ... Merciful God He is Merciful ... Merciful God in Christ, Sis. Stephanie

Is This a Good Time to Talk?

"Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice."  - Psalms 55:17 Dear Friends, " Hello! Is this a good time to talk?"  These are words often spoken as preliminaries when placing business calls.  Sometimes people will begin with, "Did I catch you at a bad time?"  For me there is always a bit of apprehension present along with the words. This is true whether I am the initiator of the call or on the receiving end. I am so thankful that I don't need preliminary icebreakers, or have to rest on "form or fashion" in order to talk to God.  I don't need an appointment.  Evening, morning and at noon I can pray and converse with my Heavenly Father. Is this a good time to talk to the Lord? YES! THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO TALK! "Seek ye the  Lord  while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return

His Name Shall be Called

" ...and  his  name   shall   be   called   Wonderful , Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." - Isaiah 9:6 Dear Friends, Jesus is Wonderful.  He is the Wonderful Counsellor.  He is the Prince of Peace.  His name shall be called. Jesus. Jesus there is something about His name.  When I think about Jesus.  His name shall be called. Jesus. The Word tells us that demons tremble at His name.  His name shall be called.  Jesus. The mighty God; the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  His name shall be called.   Jesus. His Name shall be called. "   Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:   That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;   And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." -   Philippians 2:9-11 Jesus. His name shall

Acknowledgement Brings Direction

"In   all   thy   ways   ackno wledge him, and he shall direct  thy  paths."        - Proverbs 3:6 Dear Friends, What's on your calendar for today, this week, this month?  Are you taking a trip to the grocery store? Big meeting at work? Job hunting? Interview?  Maybe you are shopping in preparation for the holiday cookout.  Are you getting ready for choir rehearsal, learning new music?  What is the point of all the questions? It is to bring clarification, to lift up and elaborate on "in all thy ways."  We have a choice in the matter. We can decide to acknowledge the Lord or not. We are reminded in Proverbs 3:6, however, that if we make the correct choice and are obedient to the Lord's instructions, He will direct us. I have been in the middle of a mall parking lot and forgot where I parked the car. When I uttered a prayer "Lord please show me", seemingly, all at once, I was in the right aisle and there was my car!  I realize that ack

From a Mighty Long Way

"And when we cried unto the  Lord  God of our fathers, the  Lord  heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:  And the  Lord  brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders:" -  Deuteronomy 26:7-8 Dear Friends, I am sitting here pondering over the words of a old song: "The Lord God has brought me from a mighty long way. The Lord God has brought me from a mighty long way.  I've been blessed by His goodness. I've been kept my His grace.  The Lord God has brought me from a mighty long way." Crying out to the Lord in times of trouble, shouting praises to the Lord in good times and bad; always keeping in mind that it is His power and goodness that has kept me. Sometimes it is good to think about where the Lord has brought "you" from. Even a short distance is a "long way" when you consider

In the Midst

" The  Lord  thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing."     - Zephaniah 3:17 Dear Friends, Remember ...  Wherever you are right now, God is in the midst Remember... Whatever you may be facing  God in the midst of thee is mighty Remember Whatever  burdens are pressing you down The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty. He will save.
