The True and Living God

" But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation."         - Jeremiah 10:10 Dear Friends, There are many gods but only one True God. He is the Living God. He is the Everlasting King.  There is no god like unto Our God.  Lord of Lord. King of Kings. The Almighty God. He reigns in majesty. It is important, when we talk about God that we understand and are prepared to outline exactly Who it is we are referencing.  When we say God we are talking about the Heavenly Father. Father God who loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die for our sins.  He is not to be confused with idol gods who have no power.  He is not a god that is made of wood or brass and resting on a shelf.   John 4:24 tells us:  " God is a Spirit : and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."  " God is not a man, that he s

Mighty Grateful

" In the day when I cried thou answered me, and strengthened me with streng th in my soul."       Psalms 138:3 God has done great things.  There is so much to be grateful for. Grateful. Mighty grateful. Knowing to be thankful and appreciative is not something that just happens. It is a learned behavior. Some refer to it as "home training."  My parents taught my siblings and I to say please, thank you and excuse me. This behavior was not just reserved for company, we were to exhibit good manners towards one another. God bestows abundant blessings upon us day after day. I am grateful. He graciously looks beyond our faults and sees our needs. I am grateful. God provides comfort through His Holy Spirit. I am grateful.    God has blessed "exceedingly, abundantly, above all that I could ask or think." I am mighty grateful! in Christ, Sis. Stephanie

It's Prayer Time

" As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice." - Psalms 55:16-17 Dear Friends,  It's always time to pray.  Morning, night and noon take time to have a talk with the Lord.   The Bible teaches us: " And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;" - Luke 18:1 " Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." - James 5:16 " If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land". - II Chronicles 7:14 Let us be diligent in praying one for another. Let us be bold in approaching God's throne on behalf of our brothers

Simply Marvellous

"This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." - Psalms 118:23-24 Dear Friends, Today, this moment, right now is marvellous. It is marvellous due to its newness. It is a time of possibility. We rejoice and we are glad in the time that God has made. Pause, consider, look around. God did not just make the day.  He also designed it. He has put everything in place; Every place you will go and every person you will meet. This day is filled with God's magnificent grace. While you may not accomplish all that you would like to today, it is still simply marvellous. Things may not go as you planned today, however, it is still simply marvellous.  With all the human imperfectations that may threaten to cloud your view, look up to the heavens and know all that God does is truly, simply, marvellous.   This is the day that the Lord hath made.  Rejoice in it and be glad. in Christ, Sis. Stephanie

He Is Risen

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said, Come, see the place where the Lord lay."                - St. Matthew 28:6 Dear Friends, Christ has risen!  We live in the power of this truth.  As we go throughout our daily walk may we lift up the name of Jesus Our Lord.   Have a blessed week! in Christ, Sis, Stephanie

Patiently Waiting

"I waited patiently for the Lord ; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord ."     - Psalms 40:1-3  Dear Friends, A dear Christian sister sent me a youtube link of Shirley Caesar singing a song entitled Patiently Waiting.  I encourage everyone to listen to the song.  Even if you have heard it before revisit it and meditate on the words.   Psalms 40:1-3 is where the Lord led me to focus on again today. The Psalmist patiently waited on God and God answered.  He listed to the petition; He heard the sincere need; He provided a sanctuary, a refuge from the trouble; He brought peace in the midst of confusion; He set a new course of action; He brought joy in the midst of sorrow; He replaced mourning with a song; He turned a t

"Be Safe"

"But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."           - Proverbs 1:33 One of the basic needs that children have is the need to feel safe. Children need to have assurance that their parents will protect them, provide for them. They need to know that they can trust their parents to be truthful, dependable.  Safety comes in knowing that parents will give good advice.  God as our Heavenly Father, can be relied upon to meet our every need. As His children we can rest assured that He will protect us. The Lord will provide for us. The Lord is Truth. He is The Way. We can always depend on God. Be safe. You can be. Trust in God. Be safe. You are. When you take heed to His Word. Be safe. You can be confident. He will not fail those that trust in Him. Be safe. You don't have to fear. God said it is so. Amen! in Christ, Sis. Stephanie

When I Think About

"All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned every one to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all."   - Isaiah 53:6 Dear Friends, I have fallen short so many times. I wanted my own way. I had to have my say. I was determined to get my point across. Gone astray... Turned aside... Fallen short. The Bible says: "All we like sheep have gone astray..."  There is not one person who can claim that they got it right every time or that they were in the right in every situation and be telling the truth. But God, the Lord, provided a solution for our shortcomings, for our sins, our iniquity. He has laid ALL OF OUR INIQUITY ON JESUS CHRIST. When I think about this, the magnitude of the sacrifice Jesus made, I just cannot take it in. I am overcome, by the love, the grace, the mercy of God.  Jesus died so that I could have a right to eternal life. The songwriter penned: " He lives, He lives. Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me

Road Work Ahead!

"Commit thy way unto the Lord ; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." - Psalms 37:5 Dear Friends, Today on my way to work I saw a sign posted that read, "Road Work Ahead."  The sign caused me to be more alert, to look for the possibility of closed roads, the need to change lanes, or merge.  I slowed down a little as I rounded a bend realizing that there might be construction, red barrels in the street or work trucks.  Extra caution was in order, "Road Work Ahead."   In our spiritual lives there is a "road work ahead" sign posted.  There is a constant need for us to be more alert.  Look for closed doors as well as open doors.  We need to be on the alert for the prompting of the Holy Spirit when He tells us to change lanes, go in a different direction, try a new approach, shift our attitude.  The Lord guides us throughout the hustle and bustle of life to take time to rest and be restored. He urges us to slow down a little.

We See Jesus

" Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings." - Hebrews 2:8-10 Dear Friends, We see Jesus.  Jesus Our Savior.  Jesus Our Elder Brother.  He is the One who prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane that the bitter cup would pass from Him.  Yet, he yielded to the will of God by saying, "Nevertheless not my will but Thy will be done."  We see Jesus. He was betrayed by Judas for thirty pieces of silver.  We see Jesus denied by Peter.  We see Jesus mocked and s

The Walls Came Tumbling Down

"So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city."     - Joshua 6:20 Dear Friends, It's time to shout!  Yes, there are mountains that need to be climbed. There are valleys that we need to find our way out of. Walls loom large in front of us. It's time to shout! We shout by faith in the God who has the power to crumble mountains, make valleys disappears and remove walls! The songwriter penned: "Don't wait till the battle is over shout now!"  I am a witness that God will literally remove walls that threaten to box you in, steal your peace or negate your joy.  He is the same God who met Joshua at Jericho and Moses at the Red Sea. God has not changed since He delivered Daniel from the den of lions or loosed the

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

"For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." - I Corinthians 8:5-6 Dear Friends, Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! The mention of His name brings to attention all of the Heavenly hosts. Jesus. Our Peace. Jesus, the Source of our Joy. Jesus the One who died that we might live. Jesus! Jesus Jesus!  In celebration today on this Sunday we recognize as Palm Sunday, all honor and praise to the Lord Jesus.  Remember, the triumphant entry He made into your life when you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior.   Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!  He reigns.  All power and authority are in His hands. Jesus. We delight to do His will. Jesus. We are humbled in knowing just how much He loves us.  Jesus, Oh Jesus.   Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name wh

In The Midst Of...

"He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing". - Psalms 107:20-22 Dear Friends, Keep the faith. The enemy is busy. Yet God is in control.  My grandmother taught me: "Steph, when you walk with the Lord, He ain't gonna let nothing sneak up on you."  She further stated: "They 'talked about' Christ and He was perfect, so what about you?"  God is the Lord of the Hosanna experience and the Crucifixion Crowd.  In Him we live! In Him we move! In Him we have our being.  When we feel we can't go on. Think about Jesus.  There is healing in His name.  When we feel as if the insults against our character are going to overwhelm us, think about Jesus. There is deliverance in His name.   "Sacrifice the sacrific

What Next?

" But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." - I Peter 5:10-11 Dear Friends, Difficulties can multiply in our lives so quickly at times that we find ourselves asking "how much more?"  We look for peace, we pursue it. Yet, trouble appears seemingly on all sides.  Another question may surface.  The question, "what next?" In spite of the difficulties, in the midst of multiplied troubles, there stands The God of All Grace.   But God...amazing grace is available, the amount needed measure by measure is awaiting us.  When? While there is no exempt status from suffering. I Peter tells us  that after "a while" of suffering The God of All Grace will perfect us.  He will stablish us.  H e will strengthen us.  He will settle us.   The Word does not say He mi

Be a Blessing

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and send etch the rain on the just and the unjust." - St. Matthew 5:44-45 Dear Friends, Be a blessing! Choose to love those who are slapping you in the face? Are you serious? Jesus is! Always!  He is speaking: Love them. Bless them.  Do good to them. Pray for them.  In other words, don't just stand there take action.  Be strong.  Contrary to what the enemy would have you believe it takes strength to love, bless, do good and pray when you are being persecuted.  How is it possible? All things are possible with God. He is Our Father. We are empowered to accomplish all that He instructs us to do.  Blessed to be a blessing, no doubt you have heard this. Perhaps you have even said it yourself.  Now

Elected!

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long suffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye." - Colossians 3:12-13 Dear Friends, Congratulations! You have been elected. We have been elected. Elected "of" God. We are elected to be holy and we are beloved in Christ Jesus. It is He who has made our election sure. The enemy has no power to impeach us. Elected to show mercy and kindness. We have been elected to walk in humility. We are to be clear in our understanding that the One who reigns in office does sit on high.We take our orders from The Most High God. This is the source of our humility.  We can do nothing in our own strength.  We serve at God's command.  Elected to be meek. Jesus teaches us that "the meek shall inherit the earth."  Elected to be long suffering. Wait on the Lord.

What's Love Got to Do With It? Everything?

" Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing. Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we pr

Lord Have Mercy. Have Mercy Lord

"But do thou for me, O God the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me."  - Psalms 109:21 Dear Friends, Lord have mercy.  As we go throughout our days as we lay our heads down to sleep at night, Lord have mercy.  The hymn writer penned, "it's getting late in the evening and the sun's going down." Lord we ask that you would have mercy.  There are decisions that need to be made.  Votes need to be cast.  Help us, remind us that You are in control.  Lord have mercy.     "It is of the Lord 's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him." - Lamentations 3:22-24 God is full of mercy and compassion. I remember one of the Deacons at the church use to pray, "Lord have mercy for mercy suits our case."  Whatever we do, wherever we are, the mercy of God is

Opened Doors

"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." St. John 10:9 Dear Friends, Walter Hawkins wrote: "When you can't see your way and you feel like you have gone astray, doing all you know to do.  God has not forgotten you.  Hold your head up high and be true.  God will open doors for you." Maybe it is like that for you right now. In spite of all you have done and are doing, things just don't seem to be going as planned.  On top of everything else, no one really seems to understand what you are going through.  Yet, there is One.  Jesus knows.  Beyond knowing He has the ability to open closed door and when necessary He removes them from their hinges. Hold your head up.  Tilt your chin.  Life your eyes.  That's right! Get a glimpse of the hills.  God sits high.  He sees and knows all. He won't let you down.  Hear the creaking noise?  That's your door opening! Bless God! in Christ

One Oh One! 101

"O praise the Lord , all ye nations: praise him, all ye people   For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord ." - Psalms 117:1-2 Dear Friends, I praise God today, the One and the Only, Lord of Lords for this 101st blog entry.  To say that He alone is Worthy is to know this. Years ago the Lord placed on my heart to write a newsletter: "Unique Inspiration."  I wrote and published the newsletter for some years and distributed it with the help of family and friends.  My mother was my proof reader. I remember also, the encouragement I received from the late Sis. Gertrude Ribbins who allowed me to put copies out in her family's bookstore.   In 2012 The Unique Inspiration appeared as a blog and through transition, my "Abraham to Israel" experience, I have journeyed to  "Tysthatbind."  The journey to get here has been due to the One! Oh! One! The Lord.   He continues to e

The Faintest Cry

"Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry. Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not. O LORD, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life."    - Lamentations 3:56-58   Dear Friends, God hears our  faintest cry and responds to each one. How beautiful to know that the Lord supports us in advance of our concerns with the assurance that we do not have to fear. Fearless! This is the life that we can have in Christ.  Are we successful each day living without fear? No, because we are human.  Yet, the scriptures remind us that in each situation we can choose to cast our care, our fear, our apprehension and any doubt on the Lord. He invites us to do so. It is in Him and through Him, that we can live without fear. "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.   Be sobe

Requirements

"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" - Micah 6:8 Dear Friends, Do what is right, be merciful to others and be humble.  Three things. Seems simple. Sounds simple.  Yet justice, mercy and humility cannot be accomplished on our own.  What are the prerequisites to these requirements set forth by the Lord?  One of the requirements is surrender.  It is necessary to put our all on the altar.  Let the words penned by Elisha Hoffman challenge our hearts today: Is Your All on The Altar? ( Public Domain )   You have longed for sweet peace, And for faith to increase, And have earnestly, fervently prayed; But you cannot have rest, Or be perfectly blest, Until all on the altar is laid. Refrain: Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart does the Spirit control? You can only be blest, And have peace and sweet rest, As you yield Him your body and

Your Time to Shine!

" Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."     - St. Matthew 5:16 Dear Friends, Today is your time to shine!  Speak peace into the life of someone else with a kind word or action.  Go on! Hold the door for the person behind you.  Pay for the person in line behind you at the drive-thru.  Tell someone that they look nice.  Pray for the person behind you or next to you while you are waiting at the red light.   Shine on!  Be ready to give an answer to anyone who would ask you, why you are so cheerful, loving, forgiving.  Tell someone about the goodness of the Lord.  Have your testimony ready.  Sure you have a lot of them.  The Lord has brought us from a mighty long way.  Dust off, polish up the one that the Holy Spirit told you to share.  I know you said "you wasn't gonna tell nobody." But come on now, it's your time to shine! Remember:   "Ye are the salt of t

Commit, Commit, Commit!

" Commit thy works unto the Lord , and thy thoughts shall be established." - Proverbs 16:3 Dear Friends, Why do we do the things we do?  Sometimes we act on impulse. Other times we are being reactive.  Sometimes we plan and implement in a quest to be proactive. Then there are the times when we simply do nothing at all.  We can find ourselves just thinking about doing something. Today's verse instructs us to be committed.  True commitment is not a cliche  or some empty rhetoric.  The commitment that last and leaves a legacy is the Christ Commitment .  This means yielding our will to His. It is committing our works to Him.  This is true prioritizing,  giving our work, our dreams, our aspirations to the Lord.   The Bible teaches us: " Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6 "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to th

What a Difference a Day Makes

" The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise [child] shall have joy of him.   Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice." - Proverbs 23:24-25 Dear Friends, On March 7, 1990 my oldest daughter was born.  I remember when my father and mother came to visit us in the hospital.  Daddy said "what a difference a day makes" and wrote it on the board.  It is true that on that day twenty-six years ago my life was forever changed.  God blessed me with the greatest joy, the desire of my heart, motherhood.   From the moment my daughter arrived she has been teaching me.  Through the responsibility of taking care of her as an infant I learned to be more organized, more caring, more deliberate and became more affectionate. During her toddler years, I learned pure laughter, the joy of discovery, and the meaning of unconditional love.  I learned what pure adoration and unconditional love are through h

Worthy to be Praised

" And David spake unto the   Lord   the words of this song in the day that the   Lord   had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:    And he said, The   Lord   is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;    The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.   I will call on the   Lord , who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies." - II Samuel 22:1-4 Dear Friends, Worthy the simple definition: Good   and deserving respect, praise, or attention;   having enough good qualities to be considered important, useful, David through his experiences with God and his understanding of the great attributes of God, declared:  "...I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised."  - Psalms 18:3 David experienced the deliverance of God.  The Lord's mighty hand saved him from his enemies.
